NOW
Start.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 14
Start your day with a thorough coat of sunscreen. You don't want to blister before the music has even begun. The campgrounds open to ticketholders at 10am. Whenever you arrive, the parking crew will steer you to camping parking (as opposed to day parking) Your first stop is the Camping Check-In, where you'll exchange your advance ticket for a wristlet admitting you to the campground and concert areas. Once you're on the wristlet line, cell the campsite and someone will meet you at the camping gate to walk you in to the site. If you've brought in your tent, pick a spot and start setting up. Else, borrow a wagon, enlist a guide, and fetch your stuff back from your car. Pause to thank Steve Z., who arrived on Wednesday or earlier and staked out this prime real estate on your behalf. Set yourself up, grab some shade (orsime shelter from the rain) and a cold beverage.

The first official event of the fest is the Camp Stage concert at 7:30 pm. Sturgill Simpson, Caroline Rose and Parsonsfield perform until about 10:30. WXPN's David Dye emcees, and the show will be recorded for replay on WXPN-FM at a later date. (Remind yourself to tape it then, if you want a souvenir. It airs on 88.5 FM and also sitreamed online at xpn.org.)
